Required: Project Assistant (Clerical & Administrative)
Introduction
The Josef Herman Art Foundation Cymru (JHAFC) is a registered charity. It was founded in 2002 to encourage the public appreciation of the visual arts by people of all ages, and to honour the artist Josef Herman and his legacy. In 2015 the JHAFC is entering into a one year funded programme supported by Arts Council England and is seeking a Project Assistant to support the programme.

The annual programme will include:
Administrating a new Friends subscription service enabling individuals/families to join the Foundation and increasing awareness of a range of activities through regular online newsletters.
A new 30-day Printmaking residency, offered to an emerging Welsh artist to support their professional development, offering a training space in a professional printmaking studio to develop a new range of work, resulting in an exhibition in spring 2016.
A new touring exhibition programme, utilising our collection and education pack.
A quarterly lecture programme engaging Welsh artists and creative professionals discussing their work and interests in relation to Josef Herman’s work, life and times.
A young person’s arts summer school, engaging 2 artists and offering 2 weeks of artist-led activities over 10 half-day workshops in Summer 2016 and aimed at children between the ages of 10 and 18.
Further development of our National Eisteddfod programme, with a display area and exhibition, incorporating our People’s Choice Award and a new Arts trail.
A range of artist-led community workshops, aimed at families and including activities leading up to May Day in 2016 and engaging 2 artists for a total of 10 days. Workshops will be based at The Welfare, Ystradgynlais.

The post-holder will support the programme in providing administrative and financial support, and will work to the Project manager who will be responsible for the management and coordination of the programme. The post is offered on a freelance casual/sessional basis at £8.00 per hour for up to 480 hours a year (approximately 10 hours a week), equating to a year one contract valued at £3,840, inclusive of all costs.

The position will be based at The Welfare, Ystradgynlais and the Contract shall commence on 5th October 2015 and will finish on 30th September 2016.

Duties and responsibilities:
The Contract objectives will be to provide clerical and financial support for the JHAFC, including:
Office & Clerical support to the Project Manager
General administration support for the Josef Herman Foundation
Financial administration support to Project Manager (including generating invoices and servicing orders etc.)

Enthusiasm to take part and learn on the job.

Good organisational skills
IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable:
Although not essential, knowledge of the Welsh language would be desirable. Other desirable skills and abilities include:
An interest in art
Experience of using databases and Desk Top Publishing
