Memory of Memories and drawing objects

The themes in this project deal with loss, death and remembering family who had died in the Warsaw Ghetto. Herman produced some lovely drawings whilst remembering his lost family. This is an artist led project designed for young children but they would need support in undertaking some aspects of the themes.

Josef Herman - 'Joe Bach'

A film about Josef Herman's time in Ystradgynlais from 1944-55, based in a script written by Sonia Beck (Lighthouse Theatre) drawing on the journals of Josef Herman and starring Adrian Metcalfe (Lighthouse Theatre).

This film has been commissioned and funded by the City & County of Swansea Council Arts in Education Team and the Josef Herman Art Foundation Cymru as part of the 'Mining Josef Herman' project.

'Mining Josef Herman' is a two-year partnership project (2013-2015) between the Josef Herman Art Foundation Cymru and Tate. It forms part of a larger project called 'Transforming Tate Britain: Archives and Access, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Josef Herman Art Foundation also received funding from Arts Council of Wales.

The Making of 'Cynefin - Our Welcome'

Cynefin - Our Welcome is a community film education project funded by Ffilm Cymru Wales, and supported by Michael Sheen and the Josef Herman Art Foundation.

The Welfare Ystradgynlais’ community arts team have been working with Ysgol Maesydderwen, Ysgol Dyffryn Y Glowyr and Syrian families who have settled in Ystradgynlais, to tell stories of refugees past and present. Award winning animation company Winding Snake Productions worked with the community to produce the two animated films that share stories about how people fleeing conflict have been made welcome in Ystradgynlais. - 2018

Uncle Ahmed's Canaries

The Welfare Ystradgynlais’ community arts team worked with Ysgol Maesydderwen, Ysgol Dyffryn Y Glowyr and Syrian families who have settled in Ystradgynlais to tell stories of refugees past and present.

Uncle Ahmed's Canaries was created at The Welfare Ystradgynlais with Syrian families living in the area, and is based on their stories of moving to Wales and making their home in the Valleys.
